Two new contenders for the Royal Rumble matches were announced during the WWE 2024 Preview Special. Joining Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, Shinsuke Nakamura and Becky Lynch have confirmed their participation in the upcoming event.   

Both Nakamura and Lynch declared their intent to compete in the Royal Rumble during the WWE 2024 Preview Special, aiming for their second triumph in this prestigious match. Recently featured in the Raw Day 1 event, Becky faced a tough loss against Nia Jax, while Shinsuke continued his mind games with Cody Rhodes. Their rematch is set for next week’s Raw.

Shinsuke Nakamura clinched the Men’s Royal Rumble victory in 2018, entering at number 14 and securing three eliminations, ultimately eliminating Roman Reigns for the win. His subsequent title challenge against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34 didn’t end in victory, as Styles retained his championship.   

In 2019, Becky Lynch triumphed in the Women’s Royal Rumble, entering at number 28 and eliminating two competitors, including Charlotte Flair as the last one. This led to her historic WrestleMania 35 moment, where she pinned Ronda Rousey in a triple threat match to become the dual Raw and SmackDown Women’s Champion.
